Lanterns for The Coming Together of a Community

Site: South Whittier Library, Los Angeles, CA

Collaborators: Louise Griffin/Griffinmade | Los Angeles County Arts Commission | County of Los Angeles Public Library

These lanterns stand out most at night, when backlighting shines through perforated fields.

These ALTO™ aluminum cylinders were designed by Louise Griffin to tell the history of the community through water-color graphics and custom perforations.

Varying in height and diameter, the columns are a reflection of the ways in which the community gathers in this public space.
